This chic and stylish fair trade backpack is a fantastic way to carry your belongings around town or in the countryside. It has lots of useful pockets as well as being large enough for a laptop. And the fact that it is made from old cement bags with a tyre base means that it is super strong and water-resistant (great for our climate in West Wales).  We think it is the ultimate in eco-friendly rucksack design.

These bags are made by Smart Crafts, a small group of artisans in Cambodia who mainly work from their homes and focus on employing victims of landmines and polio. They are brought to us by Lost in Samsara who, like us, are members of BAFTS Fair Trade Network UK.

The upcycling of old cement bags and inner tubes saves these waste materials from going into landfill, so they are a great sustainable product. Also, the use of these recycled materials provides a fantastic vegan alternative to leather bags.
