Fair and Fabulous is located in the beautiful Teifi Valley in rural West Wales and is run by Lenshina Hines and Jill Sutton. It’s a place that naturally fosters close community links, but we believe that this should include global as well as local connections. By forming the company we aim to provide incomes for ourselves as well as for people in other small communities in many different locations – reaching from village to village for a fairer world.
Jill is well known as the face of Fair Trade in our local area – who can forget her ‘take a step’ dance routines! She established BagAge in 2005, selling reusable shopping bags, many of them Fair Trade, as a response to the prolific use of plastic bags. Opening her first shop in Newcastle Emlyn in 2010 her Fair Trade product range grew and her interest in the Fair Trade movement in Wales was honed. Jill now uses her passion to promote Fairtrade in the town and co-ordinates the Newcastle Emlyn Fairtrade group.
Lenshina lived in Cardiff for many years working as an engineer for a large manufacturing company but dreaming of a more sustainable life in the country (and watching too many re-runs of the Good Life). She eventually made the leap in 2010 and since the birth of her beautiful daughter has been looking for a sustainable and ethical way of earning a living that can fit around the demands of caring for a child.
Jill and Lenshina became friends as members of the local transition network and one day walking around the castle trying to get a baby to sleep decided that our unique combination of senior moments and baby brain were an ideal combination for a joint business. So Fair and Fabulous was born!
About our business – we aim to provide high quality Fair Trade products. We believe that shopping ethically should not mean you have to compromise on quality or service. Everything that we sell is certified Fair Trade, so when you treat yourself or your loved ones to something fabulous you can be sure that it is also something fair.
Oh and yes, we do love to dress up! Watch this space for our upcoming Halloween exploits…
